This weeks training drill was held on Main street at the Rural Gas company. The objective of the training was to introduce members to the storage and filling facility while also making them aware of the many issues to be confronted when dealing with Liquified Propane Gas. The program was taught by Long Hill Captain Mike Rowan and as always was informative and practical.
A few hours after the conclusion of drill, Nichols was requested to respond in to Huntington Center with Quint 303 for the reported strip mall structure fire behind Beechwood Market. At the same time, Shelton FD also requested an engine for station coverage at the same time. Quint 303 rolled out the door with 3 members along with DC Franko and arrived on scene with instructions to take up a defensive position on the Alpha/Delta corner of the strip mall. The ladder was placed in this position in case the fire had run the common cockloft, which did not take place due to an aggressive fire attack by first arriving Shelton Fire companies. The quint and engine were released back to the Village approximately 1 hour after the initial dispatch.
